Wednesday 01. August: As the weather stayed clear they had a great day as they headed west on the Vestfonna Glacier. Staying high it was like a mix of a ridge and a plateau as they looked down on the Hinelopen Straight and saw the wild peaks in Spitsbergen on the other side. It kind of reminded Børge of Patagonia with it’s beauty. They easily did 31km and are now nearing the edge as they aim for the Forsius Glacier that extends the furthest west letting them stay in their skis as long as possible.

Tuesday 31. July: A great day with sun and breeze from north-west. After some zigzag’ing to tread their way through the lower part of the icefall they swiftly dealt with the melt-zone this time, and headed up. The breeze dropped the temperatures and later in the day the snow hardened up with some drift snow giving excellent skiing conditions. This gave them 20km by camp as the reached the plateau at the Vestfonna glacier at roughly 600m. Depending on the conditions they should have 2 or 3 days left till the coast.
