DOGSLEDGE ACROSS GREENLAND: Greenland
Another way of travelling. On these days of fast vehicles, what a better way to go than with a team of beautiful huskies and a sledge across the Greenland plateau. Snow muffled sounds as we follow on the footsteps of Nansen and the rest of old time polar explorers. We will go west to East in spring, before the snow melts, for about 600 Km.

Greenland fall – East to west: Greenland
This crossing we do from the East towards the West, same as the great explorer Fridtjof Nansen, and being somehow rougher than the Spring one is a perfect challenge for the more adventurous. Although meteorological conditions will be a bit harder than on a Spring crossing the feeling of accomplishment at the end has no equal ! We will meet in the town of Tasilaaq. From there by boat towards Isortoq and our first campsite below the ice. This ice will prove a challenge as we start our climb towards the plateau. Once there we will have to play along with the wind and make the best of the good days as we head towards the West. The days get colder as the Island starts to go into winter mode. After having descended from the ice we will be picked up at the famous 660 height and driven to Kangerlussauq for a well deserved shower and celebration dinner!

CROSSING THE NORTHERN PATAGONIAN ICECAP: Patagonia
Cross the jungle, ride on horses and boats, ascent into one of the largest icecaps in the world through the icefalls and then do it all again on the way down after having crossed one of the biggest and most remote icecaps in the world! The Northern and Southern Patagonian Ice Fields are the two largest ice caps in South America. In fact, the southern one is the world’s third largest ice cap after Antarctica and Greenland; the northern one is somewhat smaller. Both lie in the heart of the Andes, in the exposed area between Puerto Montt and Puerto Natales. I have traversed both glaciers (the Southern Ice Field in 2003 and the Northern in 2009) – and this is one of the most amazing areas I’ve ever explored. The weather can be extreme, with strong winds and rain, but the landscape, the mountains and the light are truly unique and always beautiful.

Greenland spring – West to east: Greenland
Greenland: the biggest Ice mass in the Northern hemisphere, and still a challenge in these times of fast travelling. This crossing we do from the West to the East as we try to make the best of the always changing meteorological conditions and to have the melting on our side. We will start from the town of Kangerlussuaq where we will be driven to the edge of the ice. After that it is a challenging climb to the plateau. But once we are there is all perfect snow waiting for us, and distances covered increase as days go by, especially after we start the descent and winds are on our side. Once the ice is over we descend towards the town of Isortoq and start our way back to civilization. An adventure that will be remembered forever!
