We made it in to Engholm Husky In Karasjoka around 15.00 yesterday.
The trip down from Ravnastua was spectacular. We passed a couple of frozen lakes before climbing back on to the plateau for a while. Then it is some funny downhill skiing before ending it all with skiing down the river Karasjoka.
Engholm Husky is the most amazing place. For 30 years, the legend Sven Engholm has builded this camp of woodhouses bit by bit with his own hands. Everyone should come here to see it for themselves.
After a big moose lasagna everyone tucked in, and I'm pretty sure they all slept like "bambinos " tonight.
Thanks for the trip guys, it has been a shared pleasure !
Are and the Team
Another cold day... When we woke up it was 30 below... At Molisjok-Mountain Cabin it was 22, and that was the warmest we had all day.
The team is working hard In the cold weather, and they are tired, but happy at night. Everything from skiing to camp routines is getting better day by day. Today from choosing camp to the moment the first stove was lit, only took 20 minutes.
We have met a lot of trailbreakers for the Finnmarksløpet today, but the team is not all happy about that.
Tonight there will be a party in the BIG tent. I'm curious to see how many show up!
This trip is slowly turning into a fairytale !
Ciao from Are & the team.
From Jotka to the east shore of Lake in 7 legs of 50 minutes each and enjoying long nice breaks between the skiing parts.
It is sunny and cold, approximately 25-30 below Celsius.
The team is getting good at skiing while pulling sledges, it looks like they have done nothing else ever!
Heading towards Mollisjokk and Hundevidda tomorrow.
We met a dogmusher with team today, looks like Finnmarksløpet is coming up soon.
Cheers from Are and the team!
Started from Øvre Stilla in the afternoon. We skied by Jotka Fjellstue for a cup of hot coffe. Pitched tents on the shore of lake-Jotka in the evening.
We will start off early tomorrow, to make some good distance towards Mollisjokk.
Great guys in great weather.
Are and the team.
Day 0 is packing and preparing day.
The team of Matteo (Ita), Leonardo (Ita), Giorgio (Ita), Grzegorz (Pol). Chris (GBr) and Filippo (Ita) all arrived at Alta airPort at 14.15 in the afternoon. We (Rune and Are) picked them up, and went to Camp Alta to kick off what we hope will be a week of fun, learning and great outdoor-experiences.
At Camp Alta we made a delicious pasta dish with fresh parmesan-cheese, directly from Italy. Yummy!
Then on to some crash-course tent, stove, breakfast, equipment and clothing classes, before a few of the guys even went on to check out Alta by night.
Now they are all in their cabins, packing and preparing for tomorrow and this week's big happenings.
Best regards from Are.
Everything is prepared now. Plane tickets are bought, team is ready and all equipment packed !
The Finnmarksvidda plateau awaits the team that will start skiing next Thursday .
You will be able to follow them here daily, or as much as time and conditions permit sending information.
Good luck, and enjoy the trip, whether live on the snow or online !
