Day 16, Monday: If yesterday was hard, Monday was harder. Though it started very well. The first icefall was very kind to them, but the second proved a real challenge. It took most of the day and they had to do 4 rappels, one of them quite tricky. But this was Mikes’s territory and he just loved the chance to excel with ropes and difficulties. – But it seemed all enjoyed themselves, even though the day was very long and they did not quite get as many kilometres as hoped.

For tomorrow things look better, but that could be deceiving… Again the weather was great, and they had good contrast and visibility – no disadvantage there. So all in all a very happy lot.
