Thursday / Day 12: After the big birthday yesterday, they could have been excused for taking it easy today. But this stunning little team banged in another 31,5km. In warm (-15°C), sunny conditions they even found the snow like silk! That is very rear as Amundsen described it as ‘fish-glue’. That is also what you normally hear from polar explorers.
Another shocker was that they woke up to this total lack of noise! No wind!!! They did not hang about and got on their skis and were all smiles at this delayed present.
They now have 322km to the South Pole. If everything goes their way (we are thinking of the weather here…) they may be at the Pole in about 10 days. That is impressive. We cross our fingers.

A happy lot in a break. There have been disappointingly few spectators, so no wonder they cheer up seeing a camera… or maybe they have fun for real???
