Greeting from a 2nd generation Norwegian living in sunny Southern California. I first heard of your wild & crazy adventures on National Public Radio. Now, I tell everyone about both of you; skiing, swimming and floating on moving ice in the dark to get to the North Pole. I especially encourage my Grandsons to read your messages, hoping they will pick up your encouragement to “follow your dreams” in spite of great odds that come up against you.
Anticipating your daily notes feels like the moment when a “football” is just being sent into or across the goal area in soccer. There is great excitement and hope in something good happening!
Now, may the ice flow your way.
Borge and Mike – this is a hell of an undertaking which you guys have taken on. Your messages read like horror stories – this business of getting in and out of dry suits and swimming across leads must be enormously demanding. Given your total competence its all about will and the capacity to endure. Win the battle of each day, one at a time, and you will win the war.
Keep hanging in and the elements and mother earth will turn in your favour.
Bottles of Whiskey on me if and when we meet up.
John Bourke
