Bengt – call of the wilderness
Bengt Rotmo has extensive expedition and wilderness experience from several continents. Børge considers him one of the calmest and strongest people in the business – and thus a great asset to every expedition.
He has been skiing across Alaska, taken extended rafting and canoe trips on demanding rivers in America’s northernmost state, and helped guide many fishing and hunting groups.
He’s crossed Greenland three times, both from east to west and west to east. Bengt has challenged the Northwest Passage – but contrary to Roald Amundsen, Bengt did it on skis! He has also guided private groups on parts of this route.
Moreover, Bengt successfully completed an 1100-kilometre expedition to the South Pole. In his native Norway, he has crossed the Finnmark Plateau in the far north in every compass direction. His most recent expedition was in 2009 when he crossed the Northern Patagonian Ice Field.
His home base is just as impressive as his expedition merits. Bengt has three kids – meaning his wife has four people to tame. We are fortunate that she occasionally allows us to borrow Bengt.
