Today awaits a beautiful drive through the Andes in a car – and a lake crossing by boat. Tomorrow the means of transportation is horses. This is from last years trip.
Saturday 28th October 2013, Coyaique, Cile: Welcome to the the 2012 Crossing of the dramatic and daunting Northern Patagonian Icefield .Finally the hole team has gathered. Bill was the last to arrive having been delayed by 24 hours showing up Friday, Elin got in Thursday as there were no flights to the region on Wednesdays while Clare and Mike came down Tuesday.
Some lost luggage and local surprises has not derailed the trip, though they had to postpone the start by one fay as the ferryman had to travel to the nearest city to vote…
Right now they do the last preparations in the Patagonia Hostel in Coyaique trying to limit the weight as much as they dear. We believe we have a strong team this year as most of them aspire for the North Pole as their next adventure. Clare, Mike, Bill and Bengt all want to be up there so we hope for Elin’s sake the chatting in the tent will not solely be Polar strategies.
Bengt is super happy with the team. That plan is to drive off around 09:00 Saturday morning Chilean time.
Stay tuned!

Heia Elin
