Covid-19 - Important information

These are very special times. Travel is heavily restricted and most expeditions are cancelled due to this. However, we hope that we can execute some of our planned trips and this document is meant to answer questions you might have. We will also inform about risk and how plans might change, and other issues you need to be aware of:

We demand on our trips:

  • 48 hour covid-19 test result before the trip starts

  • Participants must bring their own antibac and face mask

Flexibility:

As you know the dynamics of the pandemic are hard to predict. Local, national, and international rules, restrictions and recommendations change on short notice. We will try to be prepared and do our utmost to implement the authority’s guidelines, but we need you “onboard” with a flexible mindset.

o   Set yourself a target and prepare 100% even though the trip may not happen. We understand that this is difficult, but non the less important – and it will make getting out there even better!

o   There might be adjustments to your trip close to departure – but we will adjust and adapt accordingly and try to make the trip happen even with changes on short notice.

Price:

On Norwegian trips (including Svalbard) we have good control on prices, and our experience is that they will not change much, if any. But should unforeseen costs or restrictions on group sizes influence your trip, we will tell you as soon as possible.

On our Greenland trips, cost will be higher than previous years. We will try to estimate a “worst-case scenario”-price. This, so that you are prepared and are not led into a false understanding. Hopefully, when the pandemic eases, we will scale back towards the intended price, but here we are dependent on our vendors.

Non- refundable deposit for 2020-2021 is set to:

o   Norway: NOK 3.000,-

o   Svalbard: NOK 5.000,-

o   Greenland NOK 18.000,-

Main invoice/the rest:

o   Normally this is due 90 days before departure and is normally non-refundable 90 days before departure.

o   We will strive to move this payment closer to departure to give you a better chance to read the pandemic situation. This will change from trip to trip.

All our trips have most costs paid upfront, so be aware that in case of a last-minute cancellation by either you or us, there will be costs that cannot be retrieved/re-imbursed.

timing:

Our travel conditions have strict rules on when you need to sign up, pay the deposit and the rest. The pandemic has caused a lot of trouble for travellers, travel companies and insurance companies, but we will stretch as far as possible to set payment dates as late as possible, and hopefully in a timeframe so that you too feel safe to go.

insurance:

As always, you need to be insured. It is very important to have a good travel insurance and for every trip outside Norway, a medical evacuation insurance. Because of the situation, it is very important that you contact your insurance company to be sure what they cover and not, and how they handle “Covid-19 related” issues.

Some companies offer cancellation insurance. This can be recommended if you are worried for any losses due to the pandemic but investigate the terms and conditions before you sign up for it.

bubbles:

We need be within the rules for group sizes at the time of the trip. We always operate in small groups and believe on the safe side since we are outdoor. But it may be important to know who in the group travels together and are in a established family / friends’ bubbles. So when you sign up, please inform us of connections.

Test & Preparations:

It is of utmost importance that everyone takes extra care in advance of a long outdoor trip these days. The last five days before your trip starts, we recommend the following:

o   Use home-office if possible

o   Reduce number of contacts to as few as possible

o   Wear a mask when in contact with other people

vaccine:

We know some of you have been already vaccinated, but each country have their own rules. So please consult your country, and that country you are traveling through or towards for more information
