Down from the ice (2)

Published 20.09 in category Greenland Fall 2014

We came down on Thursday evening. Around 2330 we were down in Kangerlussuaq.

Yesterday was a sleep and packing day, and we had a wonderful dinner at «Roklubben» last evening.

The team left this morning, for Denmark. I´m still in Kanger, taking care of the shared equipment.

The last days were long and pretty hard, starting early at 06:30 and back in camp at 20:30, a little after darkness came.

In the middle of the day we had 1 hour in the tent, filling up our supply of water and food.

Weather down from the icefall has been windy. I’d say from 12 m/s to 20 m/s, but not too cold. Wind has been mostly in the back – a little from the south. Drifting snow made the landscape pretty dramatic, especially when we came down to the bumps and the blue ice in the lover part.

The «Kamelose» team has been strong and happy with lots of humor. The fall trip shows again that this is a harsh piece of land, and that this has been another great graduation in Polar exploration.

Now we´re spreading around in the world going back to normal life. We have new friends for life and I´m pretty sure that this trip will stand as a big milestone for everybody in the future.

🙂 Bengt
