Day 22, Friday 14th September: They did 40+ kilometres on a day that looked like a lot of work from the outset. The surface was really roughened by the melting during the summer and they struggled to get up to speed. But just as they contemplated camping, it all smoothened out and he last 7-8 km down the long slope to Dogcamp was pure bliss and a welcome dessert.
This sets up a final push for Høyde 660 some 45 kilometres away. Trouble is, unstable weather bodes for heavy going in new, heavy snow partly covering riverbeds and crevasses with whiteout adding to the challenge. We’ll see.
